Aviation Project
The first technically sound project large cargo airship was offered in 80-ies of the XIX century the great Russian scientist Konstantin Tsiolkovsky.
Unlike many of his contemporaries, Tsiolkovsky proposed to build a huge even by today's standards - up to 500 000 m ³ - dirigible rigid construction with a metal shell.
Design verification of the ideas of Tsiolkovsky, conducted in 30-s employees "Dirizhablestroya" of the USSR (1932-1940, in 1956 the company was reborn under the name DKBA), showed the validity of the proposed concept. However, the airship is to build and could not: for the most part work on large airships for numerous accidents have been curtailed, not only in the Soviet Union, but throughout the world. Despite the large number of regeneration projects the concept of large airships, they still usually do not go out of their drawing boards designers.
